I wrote this for my husband’s birthday in March 1999.  It got an “honorable mention” in the Billboard Song Contest in 2001.  I think if I’d written a bridge, it would be a better song, but I’m so sentimental about it, I’m leaving it as it is.

Morning sunlight, scattered toys, girl and boy
Cup of coffee in my hand
You walk in, reach down and kiss me
I look into the eyes of one good man

Chorus
I was gonna be somebody special
to fill the empty spaces in my soul
Then you came along and took me places
Now special’s never been so much at home

Children crying, supper start, growing dark
Loads of laundry left to fold
You walk in, reach down and kiss me
You’re just the finest man I’ve ever known

Chorus

Chorus

Looks as though I finally made it home
